small parts

Small parts are things like nuts, bolts and so on.

I prefer to use stainless steel for all the outdoor stuff.

Mounting things on wood I usually do with lag bolts, and I make sure that wherever a lag bolt goes there always is a stud behind it, just so things won't drop off the wall when you least expect it.

One of my favourites is probably the 'drywall screw', I use them by the pound, and for anything but drywall (well ok, if I have to use drywall I use them there too, I just hate drywall).

I usually have two sizes on hand, 1 1/4 " and 3 ". My cordless drill always has the screw bit for the drywall screws in it, and it makes using them very quick. If your cordless drill has an adjustable clutch then set the clutch so that it disengages when the screwhead is just embedded in the piece that you are screwing it in to.
